2. Your resume format is downloaded and your objective too
Being a fresher there are not much to write and the resume of most of the fresher are same, but still if you have downloaded the resume format from web and copied your career objective from someone else, its big mistake. 4. HR Key skill mismatch
You have mentioned all key skills of yours, but that does not emphasize on your practical exposure on that function. Remember, nowadays the corporates are looking for practical skills but not for degree or theoretical conceptual concept learnt from web or YouTube. Your resume must be designed in such way so that your practical ability to do the job independently is highlighted. Mentioning some theoretical HR jargons or terms won’t help to get the interview calls.
Remember that the competition in high and you need to be different to beat others and your resume must highlight that.
5. Not sufficient HR functional practical exposure
You have experience in HR and you are doing your current job successfully but still you are not getting enough Interview calls for HR jobs. That is probably because yourprofile is lacking sufficient skill sets; those are required for a Generalist HR Manager.
Your skills are probably good enough for your current job role, but that does not mean those are enough for getting into a higher or better HR job profile with higher salary. 6. Resume has Responsibilities but not Accomplishments
Your Job responsibilities are important showcase your knowledge and experience but that won’t be enough to impress the hiring manager.Only just telling them what work your company has asked you to do, does not prove your capabilities of doing those job successfully.
Your accomplishment or achievement is something everyone is interested in.Mention some of your achievement with facts and figures
Example
- Lead and Managed a team of 5
- Grew company’s revenue from 5,00,000 to 9,00,000 million in three months
- Increased the customer base of the company from 9000 to 13,000 in just 2 months
7. Sending applications without customizing your resume
It is always better to send 10 applications and getting three interviews instead of sending out 20 applications and getting call for only one interview.
You must spend sometimes to modify and customize your CV to match up with the job requirement and to highlight the appropriate points as per the need of THAT job. It is not advisable to put in thousands of unnecessary information or achievements, those do not impress or are not required for the hiring manager for the specific job you are applying for.
8. Applying for jobs role that do not fit with your background
The skills and experience you've mentioned on your resume don't align with what a company is looking for. Applying for jobs that you are not qualified for, or its requirement does not match your profile, it will be just a mere waste of time for you and also for the recruiter. Before applying for a jobcarefully check the job profile and requirement of the companylike, experience, education and others.
9. You have a large, recent gap in employment
Having a career gap is very common for various reasons. In case you have a career gap in employment at, you must address it properly to explain. Do not list your employment in months or do not mention the months, mention the years instead in your employment history.
You may also write a cover letter with an explanationon the logical reason on why there is a gap, and how you are prepared now, to overcome the issue you had but won’t impact now for a full time job, you have applied for.

10. Your work experience doesn’t appear on the top half of page 1 of your resume
Your work experience is one of the first things recruiters and hiring managers want to see and then decide to go through the rest of the resume or not. If you have work experience, mention that within the first half of first page of your resume.
You must design your CV to adjust your work experience to be highlighted immediately after someone starts reading your resume, and your chances of getting more interview calls will likely to be increased.
